Pat Eklund — Public Safety's Best Friend
Pat has made sure Novato Police have the resources they need – including a new best friend.
As our representative on the Novato City Council, and as Mayor, Pat Eklund has worked tirelessly to make sure our police officers have the resources they need to do their jobs safely and to protect our community.
When Novato needed stronger tools to keep officers and residents safe, Pat didn’t wait for someone else to act. She championed the funding to create the Novato Police Department’s K9 unit and pushed to keep our department fully staffed — because a safe Novato starts with a police force that has what it needs.
Novato Police officers face real risks every day — tracking down suspects, searching for missing people, and responding to dangerous calls without the specialized tools bigger departments take for granted. Pat saw that gap and pushed the City Council to close it, championing the budget line that funded Novato’s first K9 unit and gave officers a trained partner for suspect apprehension, narcotics detection, and search-and-rescue.
